Gambling Act 2005


The Gambling Act 2005 came into effect on 1st September 2007 and has introduced a number of changes with regard to the law on gaming machines and 'exempt gaming' which covers the playing of poker, bingo, dominoes and cribbage in premises licensed for the sale of alcohol. The Act applies across the UK. In Scotland, the Scottish Executive is responsible for the secondary legislation implementing the Act.


The Association has prepared a briefing note on 'Pubs and the Gambling Act 2005' to assist members with the new legal framework.


Also, The Gambling Commission has produced a Code of Practice on alcohol licensed premises permits and permissions. This can be downloaded below.
