Visit England Award Winners

The Visit England Awards for excellence were held in Manchester last night. The BBPA sponsored the first Tourism Pub of the Year Award. Six pubs were shortlisted for the Award, which was presented by the BBPA's Brigid Simmonds. The winners were as follows:

Tourism Pub of the Year

The Feathered Nest, Nether Westcote, Oxfordshire - Gold
The Drunken Duck, Ambleside, Cumbria - Silver
The Yew Tree Inn, Tarporley, Cheshire - Bronze
The Millstone at Mellor, Blackburn, Lancashire - Highly Commended
Rashleigh Arms, St Austell, Cornwall - Highly Commended

Elsewhere, The Outstanding Contribution to Tourism Award went to the Games Makers from the Olympic and Paralympic Games who helped improve our reputation for a warm welcome in international standings. Jonathan Edwards, the Olympic Triple Jumper, was there to present the award.
