Maltsters’ Association of Great Britain seeking Executive Director

Maltsters’ Association of Great Britain (MAGB) is the trade association of the malting industry in the UK. With close connections with the brewing and distilling industries the MAGB represent over 98% of UK malt production.


Due to an imminent retirement, the organisation is looking to recruit an Executive Director to promote and protect the interests of the UK malting industry.


Working with the Executive Committee the Executive Director will be responsible for:


  • Representing the sector with Government agencies, scientific bodies and regulatory groups
  • Supporting the MAGB UK nominated Representative at Euromalt and work as part of the Euromalt team
  • Co-ordinating permitted collaborative activities of member companies, e.g. health, safety, environment, food safety, energy. Participate in barley and malt food safety analytical surveys
  • Managing the MAGB qualification system, including overseeing training events, the malting symposium and the examination process
  • Managing the secretariat to support the committees of the Association
  • Ensuring all aspects of the MAGB administration are run effectively and in line with legislative requirements
  • Ensuring that a comprehensive communications plan is in place to ensure all interested parties are kept informed of progress and writing clear briefing documents using appropriate language
  • Representing the Association at relevant industry events The preferred candidate will have an excellent technical knowledge of the malting/brewing/distilling industry with a relevant technical degree.

This is a part-time position (approximately 160 days per year) and can be home based with regular visits to the Head Office in Newark and attendance at meetings and industry events as required.


The successful candidate will have a positive and enthusiastic attitude, good communication and networking skills and a proven track record in a management role delivering results.
