Emma McClarkin OBE

Chief Executive

Emma McClarkin was appointed Chief Executive of the British Beer & Pub Association in 2019.

A passionate beer and pub lover, Emma is the voice for the beer and pub sector leading them through the pandemic, interfacing with Government and stakeholders to secure vital grant support and economic stimulus to aid the recovery of the Sector. Protecting the future of the Great British Pub and our world-renowned brewers.

Prior to joining the BBPA, Emma served as a Member of the European Parliament for 10 years and as a true beer lover, she also served as Vice President of the European Parliament Beer Club.

Outside of work, Emma is a big fan of music and sport, closely following the rugby, football and cricket – as well as watching them in her local pub!

Andy Tighe

Chief Strategy & Delivery Officer

Andy has over 25 years of industry experience. He joined the BBPA as an economist/statistician before moving into policy roles firstly in brewing and then across beer and pubs, becoming the BBPA’s first Policy Director in December 2012. In 2020, Andy was promoted again to Director of Strategy and Policy, working closely with the Chief Executive and senior business leaders across the sector. In 2026 Andy was promoted to Chief Strategy & Delivery Officer.

James Hawkins

Director of Communications & External Affairs

James joined the BBPA as Director of Communications & External Affairs in August 2023, having worked for 20 years in different public affairs and corporate communications roles in-house and for agencies in the UK and overseas, as well as an adviser in Parliament and for the Conservative Party.

Since joining the BBPA, James has led the BBPA’s engagement with government, press and the media at key set pieces such as the 2023 and 2024 Budgets, as well as successfully developing and conveying messaging which have won high profile government support for the sector during the 2024 general election and wider policy debates. In addition, James oversees the BBPA’s successful consumer focussed Long Live the Local campaign which has seen a 20% increase in supporters along with wider comms and social media engagement.

Steve Livens

Technical & Regulatory Affairs Director

Steve joined the BBPA in 2010 and his remit includes leading on the Association’s work on the many technical issues that are associated with brewing and pub operations and the sector’s supply chain, from grain to glass. This includes ingredients, raw materials and commodities vital to the sector, brewery asset management, food safety, product quality and assurance and product labelling. Steve is also involved in alcohol and public health policy, helping to shape the Associations domestic representation and working with the BBPA’s international partners, including WBA and IARD.

Prior to the BBPA he worked at Young and Co’s Brewery in London and in various roles at Campden BRI including Head of Brewing Services. There he was involved in academic and commercial research projects, and undertook consultancy and troubleshooting issues relating to brewery production and product quality, beer dispense hygiene, and new product development.

Morgan Schondelmeier

Head of Policy

Morgan Schondelmeier joined the BBPA from the Adam Smith Institute, a policy think tank, where she served as Head of External Affairs and later Director of Operations. Previously, she worked for the Institute of Economic Affairs. Prior to her role a the BBPA as Head of Policy she was Policy Manager for Tax & Trade.

After finishing her undergraduate degrees in Government & World Affairs and Economics, she moved to London and achieved a Distinction in her Master’s degree in International Political Economy at King’s College London.

She has written for The Telegraph, The Spectator, The Times, CityAM and regularly features on CapX. She has made appearances on BBC’s Politics Live and Newsnight, Sky News, BBC Big Questions, BBC Radio4, and more.

Anna Edwards

Head of Communications

Anna Edwards leads on proactive and reactive communications for the organisation.

She has a background in public relations and journalism. 

Myles Langstone

Head of Public Affairs

Myles joined the BBPA in 2026. As Head of Public Affairs, Myles is a senior political strategist and lead representative across Westminster, devolved governments, and regional authority networks.

Previously, Myles worked at the ABI, a leading financial services trade body, as Senior Adviser to the Director General and as a Communications Adviser. Myles brings extensive political experience, having worked for Alun Cairns MP, former Secretary of State for Wales, and Byron Davies MP, who now sits in the House of Lords as Lord Davies of Gower. He also served for five years as a County Councillor and Deputy Leader of his political group on the City & County of Swansea Council. 

Manuela Campbell

Membership and Marketing Manager

Manuela joined the BBPA in December 2025 as Membership and Marketing Manager. She is responsible for looking after our members and recruiting new voices into the BBPA membership. She also plans the flagship BBPA events: the annual conference and annual fundraising dinner. 

With nearly twenty years’ experience in the charitable sector, Manuela has a diverse skill set that includes a wide array of event coordination, stakeholder management, and income generation. Previously, she worked with Tipple Marketing as an event planning consultant to coordinate logistics for the British Guild of Beer Writers’ annual awards dinner. 

She used to host brewery tours for Five Points Brewing, guiding guests through the history of beer, the brewing process and tastings. Manuela is a Certified Cicerone and has earned the WSET Level 2 Award in Beer. She also grows hops in her back garden as part of the Walthamstow Beer Project.

Nick Fish

Data & Insights Manager

Nick joined the BBPA in August 2019 and is responsible for producing the association’s statistics and insights work. He graduated from the University of East Anglia with a BA Hons in Economics with Accountancy before working as the scheme manager of a multi-million-pound Government funded ex gratia payment scheme for over 10 years.

Paul Togneri

Senior Policy Manager – Scotland (SBPA)

Paul Togneri is the point of contact for enquiries relating to Scottish beer and pubs. Paul joined after several years with the SNP based in Edinburgh and London. He is a graduate of Edinburgh University with a degree in Politics.

Andrew Green

Policy Manager – Pub Operations

Andrew has been the BBPA’s Policy Manager for Pub Operations since July 2018. He is the lead for licensing matters, landlord/tenant relations, employment and skills, diversity and inclusion, planning and property issues, plus wider regulation and other issues impacting pub operations including safeguarding, copyright and gambling.

He is also the BBPA’s representative on the National Pubwatch committee. Prior to joining the BBPA he had a long and varied career within the UK’s aviation regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority after working as an auditor at Ernst & Young.

Chloe Quinn

Executive Assistant & Office Manager

Chloe joined the BBPA in February 2023 and is the Executive Assistant to the CEO and Board, as well as the Office Manager. 

Chloe has more than 25 years of experience assisting at CEO and Board Level.

James Gross

Policy Manager – Sustainability

James joined the BBPA in 2025 after seven years’ experience in central government, where he worked across multiple departments as a Senior Policy Adviser. He leads the BBPA’s sustainability work, supporting members to influence and navigate key environmental issues such as packaging and recycling reforms, carbon emissions, and climate resilience.

Tsvetin Stefanov

Policy & Insight Officer

Tsvetin joined the BBPA from HEINEKEN UK, where he started his career as Public Affairs Intern and later progressed to Public Affairs Executive.

Tsvetin graduated from the London School of Economics with a first class honours in Economic History and Geography and holds a Master’s degree in International Relations also form LSE.

Tsvetin’s work focuses on the Employment Rights Act, accessibility in the hospitality industry, tourism, the visitor levy, and website design.  

Alex Adkins

Communications Officer

Alex joined the BBPA in 2025 after starting his career in agency PR, working with clients across tax, personal finance and FMCG. 

Alex graduated from the University of York with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and holds a Masters degree in Public Policy from Queen Mary, University of London.

Emrys Davies

Public Affairs Officer

Emrys joined the BBPA in December 2025. He has over two years’ experience working for a Member of Parliament in Westminster, followed by a year in public affairs at Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Prior to his career in politics, Emrys spent more than five years working across pubs and clubs, providing him with practical insight into the operational realities of the hospitality sector. This combination of practical industry experience and political insight underpins his work representing the industry in discussions with policymakers.
