Safeguarding

Harassment & Sexual Harassment

Pubs should be welcoming and safe places for everyone who works in or visits them. With pub staff regularly interacting with customers, contractors, suppliers and others, employers have an important role in preventing harassment and sexual harassment and responding appropriately when incidents occur. The law places duties on employers to protect workers, including from harassment involving third parties, making effective policies, training and preventative measures particularly important for the pub sector.

Wine GB have created useful resources for both individual support and for creating safe spaces in a hospitality environment. We are happy to share those resources here.

Drink Spiking

Drink spiking can be defined as adding a substance to someone’s drink without their knowledge. Alcohol is the most common substance to be added, but illegal or legal drugs are other substances that might also be used. This is illegal, and there are a number of different criminal offences that such an action falls under. Any motivation for drink spiking – be it for criminal purposes or any other reason – should not be tolerated as it is a crime. fficulties occur and what can be done to address them.

Drugs & Pubs

Drugs can be associated with the night-time economy, and even the best-run premises are not always immune. The BBPA has produced guidance for pubs to assist licensees and their staff with drug-related problems.

ENOUGH. End Violence Against Women and Girls Campaign

The campaign provides practical information to help people recognise different forms of abuse and understand when behaviour may be crossing the line. It also offers guidance for those who have experienced abuse or are supporting someone affected, alongside information on how and where abuse can be reported.
